Attendance
It is extremely important that your child attends school every day so they do not miss any learning. We aim for 95% and above and if we achieve this as a class we get an attendance party! Every day the children will be given a dojo if they are at school on time.
PE
Reception will have PE twice a week. Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Children will need to bring their PE kit to school in a bag with their name clearly labelled. Children are expected to come to school on PE days in their full school uniform and will change in school for PE. Children will need black pumps, a white t-shirt and dark joggers/shorts. PE kits can also be purchased from the school office.
Homework and Home Reading
Your child will also bring home a green Speed Sounds Book - this is to keep at home and use regularly to practise recognising the sounds and writing the letters correctly. Please practise reading regularly and sign the diary to say when your child has read
Once your child has learnt several sounds, they will start to come home with a home reading 'Blending Book'. Please practise reading regularly, sign the diary to say when your child has read, and ensure the book and reading diary are brought to school every day.
We will also give out homework throughout the year to help support your child in their learning.
We have an open library session every Tuesday after school where you can come and choose a library book to take home. Library books are to be signed out and returned the following Tuesday.
Rewards
At Harwood Park, we use Class dojo. Children can be awarded dojos for things such as working hard, being kind and respectful, and showing the core values . Any adult across school can award dojo's too. When the children reach 50, 100 and 150 dojos they will receive a prize!
