Class 12 (Y5)

Welcome to Class 12's page!

Your Teacher is Miss Dundon

Your teaching assistants are Miss Lewis and Miss Parveen

We are so happy to welcome you all back to school and are always here to help you get used to the new changes in and around school. We have a new way of working in order to keep everybody safe and well and begin our learning again. You will find all the key information you need on here and links to our class blog where there will be weekly updates and photos of our lessons.

Timetable

Doors open at 8.30 until 8:45. We begin each morning by reading for enjoyment quietly at our seat. Once everyone is in class we will take the register and line up for assembly.

After assembly, we will do fluency followed by Power maths followed by breaktime. After break we will complete our RAMP or Spelling lesson followed by an English lesson before lunch. In the afternoons we do all of the other subjects as part of our curriculum such as Geography, History, Science, RE, RHE (relationships and Health education), ICT . Art/ DT and PE.

Reading: As well as reading regularly at school, you are expected to read as often as you can at home too (a minimum of three times a week). This might not always be your reading book but make sure your reading diaries are signed so reads can be counted for the Reading Challenge! You will also be entered into our raffle to win a prize!

Homework: Each week, you will need to complete one page from your English and Maths homework booklets. These pages will be given to you in class,  you must highlight the page that needs completing. Please let me know if you are having trouble with your homework before the due date. Homework is set every Friday and due the following Friday.

Times Tables and Spellings: You will be given spellings to learn every week. It is important you practice these regularly so you are ready for your tests on Friday

PE: You will have two PE lessons per week and will need full PE kit including pants or leggings as PE will take place outside. Our PE lessons are on a Tuesday and Thursday.

Brain Breaks

During the day we will stop regularly for brain breaks as we understand coming back to school is going to take time to get used to. Our brain breaks help us do a combination of things to prepare us to get back to our learning. These include wake up and shake up, meditation, cool downs, breathing exercises and mindful activities. We also have our 'Brain Bubble' where we can retreat to up to twice a day for 5 minutes time out. This will prepare us to carry on learning.
