Important days and key events:
Reading
Children are expected to read daily at home. Children will be issued with reading books along with a reading record and these must be brought into school every day. Please ensure that when your child reads at home that you sign their reading record so their reads can be counted for our reading challenge! Please try to listen to your child read as often as you can at home and write the words that your children are not confident with. Please can you ask them lots of questions about the text. It is important for children to be able to master their understanding of what they have read through questioning.
Homework
All of the children will be set a varied range of Maths homework, reading and spelling homework. If you have any concerns about the homework, please speak to a member of staff from class 5.
Spellings
Class 5's weekly spelling test is on a Friday. A list of new spellings to practice for the following week will also be given on this day in your child's orange book. Please remember to bring your spelling book to school every Friday! 📝 Children can practice their spellings on a separate piece of paper ready for the test on Friday.
PE
PE lessons will take place on Monday and Thursday every week. Our PE kit is: a white PE top, blue shorts or black tracksuit bottoms (no leggings please) and trainers or pumps.
School uniform
please make sure your child has the correct, full school uniform with their names in. Please can each child bring in their own named water bottle that they can keep in the classroom.
Rewards
In class we will be using class dojo to reward good behaviour, children can be awarded dojos for being helpful, working hard, doing their homework and following Harwood Parks core values. When the children reach 50, 100 and 150 dojos they will receive a prize! We also use class points for whole class rewards, the class which has the most each week will receive extra playtime.
Celebration Assembly
On Fridays, we will have a special assembly where children receive certificates for attendance, core values and learning.
