Transition - Year 1 to Year 2

If your child is moving to Class 5  in September 2020, please find pictures below of their newly decorated classroom!

Important days and key events:

Children are expected to read daily at home. Children will be issued with reading books along with a reading record and these must be brought into school every day. Please ensure that when your child reads at home that you sign their reading record so their reads can be counted for our reading challenge! Reading books will be changed approximately 2/3 times a week (if needed). Please try to listen to your child read as often as you can at home and ask them lots of questions about the text. It is important for children to be able to master their understanding of what they have read through questioning.  Please see link below for questions to help with children's reading comprehension at home.

Homework tasks will be uploaded online to Microsoft Teams every Friday and due to be completed by the following Wednesday.  Usernames and passwords along with instructions have been sent home with the children. At the end of each half-term, children will be given a pre-learning task in order to prepare them for the next half-term's topic. This must be completed and handed back in on the first day back after the holidays.

Class 5's weekly spelling test is on a Friday. A list of new spellings to practice for the following week will also be given on this day. Please remember to bring your spelling book to school every Friday! 📝

PE lessons will take place on Tuesday and Friday every week. Please ensure that PE kits are brought into school in a drawstring bag (not a rucksack). Children's PE kit should consist of a black top, black tracksuit bottoms, trainers, socks and a waterproof jacket/coat (no leggings) as lessons will take place outside. ⚽️
