Class 5 (Y2)
Welcome to our class page. This page will provide you with all the key information you need to support your child throughout the year. Make sure you visit our class blog regularly (see link above) to have a look at the wonderful learning we do during the year! Miss Hoyle, Mr Peters and Miss Penrose.
Important days and key events:
Children are expected to read daily at home. Children will be issued with reading books along with a reading record and these must be brought into school every day. Please ensure that when your child reads at home that you sign their reading record so their reads can be counted for our reading challenge! Reading books will be changed approximately 2 times a week. Please try to listen to your child read as often as you can at home and write the words that your children are not confident with. Please can you ask them lots of questions about the text. It is important for children to be able to master their understanding of what they have read through questioning.
All of the children have been given a Maths homework book and a Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar homework book. They will be set specific pages to complete every Friday. If you have any concerns about the homework, please speak to a member of staff from class 5.
Class 5's weekly spelling test is on a Friday. A list of new spellings to practice for the following week will also be given on this day in your child's orange book. Please remember to bring your spelling book to school every Friday! 📝 Children can practice their spellings on a separate piece of paper ready for the test on Friday.
Times Table Rockstars
In Year 2, all children have access to Times Table Rockstars. https://play.ttrockstars.com/
Login details will be stuck on the inside of their reading records and also on a large sheet in the class window for you to view. Please ask your child to practice at least once a week.
PE lessons will take place on Tuesday and Thursday every week. Our PE kit is: a white PE top, black tracksuit bottoms (no leggings please), trainers, socks and a waterproof jacket/coat.
