 Smiggle!

Harwood Park was given a huge ape to paint and decorate.

Amy Coney, our assigned artist, looked at the designs children had made before the Easter holidays and used them to come up with a final design. It was obvious the children wanted lots of pattern and colour. We decided to include our four core values of kindness, respect, cooperation and perseverance.

Some of the children were lucky enough to help with the painting.

We decided to call the ape Smiggle,

a mixture of the words smile and giggle.

Here is Smiggle completed!

This is for the

"Monkey Town goes Ape" project.

Look out for all nine apes that will be scattered across Heywood during the Summer.

They will form a trail. One of them will be ours!

On Saturday 6th May there was a parade through Heywood, launching the trail.

The children of Harwood Park dressed in monkey masks and walked behind our Smiggle banner.

Thank you very much for all those pupils and parents who came along and supported our school!

Children in Maple Class and Elm Class have been painting beautiful pictures of forests to link with their work on

"A Midsummer Night's Dream".

Look at these!
